1.  Getting an adjustment hurts.

While some people call chiropractors "bonecrushers", this is just a myth.  Many people experience great releif after receiving an adjustment.  Children and some adults are sometimes nervous when it comes to receiving an adjustment, but there is nothing to be concerned about.  Chiropractors understand the skeletal, nervous, and muscular systems in a way that allows them to find the source of problems and make adjustments to correct and alleviate pain centers.

2.  Once I start, I will have to go for the rest of my life.

This is not true.  In fact, many patients with an acute issue come in for a few visits and obtain the relief they need.  Others find that ongoing care increases their vitality and well-bring and choose to continue receiving chiropractic adjustments.  At Back By Design, you will never be subject to pressure for return visits.  The frequency of your care is always up to you.

3.  It is too expensive.

When compared to most visits to the medical doctor's office, chiropractic care is actually less expensive.  Considering long-term treatment plans that can involove medication, surgery, or intensive physical therapy, chiropractic care can often provide a less expensive, natural, healthy alternative.  Back By Design files and accepts Medicare and many forms of insurance.

4.  Chiropractors are not real doctors.

Today's Doctor of Chiropractic is well educated.  To graduate with a Doctor of Chiropractic degree, each is required  to complete 6-8 years of college education, including over 4,500 classroom hours of health-specific science (more than the average medical school curriculum).  Doctors of Chiropractic are the most educated general physicians in the areas of anatomy, radiology, neurology, and nutrition.  Upon graduation, chiropractors, like other doctors, must pass rigorous national board examinations and then demanding state testing before being granted the privilege to practice chiropractic.

5.  Chiropractos are only for bad backs.  I have a different problem.

Chiropractic is based on the scientific fact that your body is self-healing.  All body functions are controlled by the brain, spinal cord, and the nerves of your body.  If the cause of your condition is due to an irritation or pressure on a nerve, chiropractors are the only doctors trained to remove the pressure, which is referred to as as subluxation.  Since the problem commonly occurs in the spine, chiropractors have been mistaken as "back doctors."

6.  I am too old (or young) for chiropractic to help.

Significant spinal trauma is usually subtle and can occur at any age (especially during the birth process).  Naturally, chiropractic adjusting procedures are modified for the specific person's condition and age.  Chiropractic has been shown to be helpful with most "normal" childhood health problems from colic to scoliosis and is effective in reducing many causes of arthritis.
